Proviant Audio aka Mathias Stubø was born into music. The offspring of professional jazz musicians, he took up the drums at the age of 3, began playing piano and violin at 6 and started using his father’s Atari for sequencing and programming at the age of 9! By the time he was 13 his music had received national airplay and gained him an ‘Artist of The Week’ accolade on Norway's NRK P3 station. Since then he has released EP’s of his work and played Norway’s leading festivals. He is now 18 years old and this is his debut album.
‘Real Loves Tastes Like This!’ is a rich and incredibly mature body of work that speaks of a talent that transcends the producers youth. It dives into the depths of electronica, jazz, soul, funk and house comes up with an album that is drenched with uplifting melodies and imbued with a wonderfully fresh positivity.
The album is studded with musical gems; from the laidback and chopped up ‘Starten Pa Alt’, to the uplifting disco of ‘All This Time’ and on to the funk
fuelled ‘High Five’ there is a wealth of musicality here that makes for a truly enriching listening experience. With such a debut, from such a young artist it would seem inevitable that there will be much, much more to come from Proviant Audio in the years to come; but this first long player lays down an incredible marker in the musical career of a producer that is certain to become one of the leading lights for Paper Recordings.
